Quant-UX vs Figma

Figma is a great design and prototyping tool, but it is not made for user research and testing. Quant-UX is. And it is open source and free to use. You can even install it on your own server, of privacy is a concern for you.

Prototyping

When it comes to prototyping, Figma allows you to build high fidelity prototypes that you can share with others. However, the prototypes are not interactive, meaning that UI elements like dropdowns, modals, and other components do not behave like they would in a real application. This makes it difficult to test and validate designs with users, as they can only click on static elements, but not really interact with them, for instance to enter data. As a result, users may struggle to provide meaningful feedback on the design and any kind of data that is gathered is of limited value.
Quant-UX, on the other hand, is based on fully functional widgets, that allow you to create prototypes that just behave as real applications. This makes it much easier to test and validate designs with users, as they can interact naturally.

User Testing and Research

Figma does not offer any built-in user testing or research capabilities. While you can share prototypes with users, there is no way to gather feedback or insights directly within the platform. This means that you need to rely on external tools and services to conduct user testing and research, which can be time-consuming and expensive.
Quant-UX, on the other hand, is designed specifically for user testing and research. Everytime a users interacts with a prototype, Quant-UX automatically records their actions and generates detailed analytics and heatmaps. You can also create questionnaires to gather qualitative feedback from users. All of this is built directly into the platform, making it easy and convenient to conduct user testing and research.

Integration

Quant-UX is fully compatible with Figma. You can easily import your Figma designs into Quant-UX and turn them into interactive prototypes. This allows you to leverage the strengths of both platforms, using Figma for design and Quant-UX for prototyping and user research.

Pricing

Figma is a commercial product with a subscription-based pricing model. There is a free tier, but it is limited in terms of features and functionality. To access the full range of features, you need to upgrade to a paid plan, which can be expensive for individuals and small teams.
Quant-UX, on the other hand, is open source and free to use. You can use it for free, whether you are an individual or part of a large team.

Summary

Quant-UX is a powerful and flexible prototyping and user research tool that is designed specifically for user-centered design. Figma is a great design tool, however it lacks the interactivity needed for serious user research. Important! If you are solely looking for a great design tool, Figma might be the better choice, but if you are serious about user research, Quant-UX is the better option. And it is free!

Quant UX is awesome and free.
